Questions are a good sign
There is no wrong question here. If you don't see what you're looking for, you're always welcome to reach out.
01
Getting started
I'm not sure I'm ready to buy. Is this still for me?
Yes. Many people start here long before they are ready to buy. The first step is not always house hunting — sometimes it is simply understanding the process and making a plan. You are welcome to learn at your own pace.
Where should I begin?
A good starting point is Find Your Next Step. It asks a few short questions and points you to educational resources for your stage. From there, the first-time buyer basics explain how the overall process works.
Do I have to share my contact information to use the site?
No. You can read, learn, and use the educational resources without submitting any contact information. If and when you want to talk with Debra, you can choose to reach out.

Common worries
What if my credit isn't perfect?
You can still talk with Debra. She can't check your credit or tell you what you will qualify for — a lender does that — but she can help you see where credit fits in your plan and point you to homebuyer counseling, such as the Dallas County Home Loan Counseling Center.
What if I don't have much saved?
Homebuyer assistance programs exist through the Texas agencies TDHCA and TSAHC, the City of Dallas and Dallas County, each with its own rules. Each program and a participating lender decide who qualifies. Debra can help you understand how assistance fits into your search and your offer.
What if I'm not ready to buy yet?
Most of the work that makes a purchase go well happens before you look at houses. A consultation can be about next year's plan, and you won't be asked to commit to anything.
Does it cost anything to talk with Debra?
No. The consultation is free and doesn't commit you to working with Debra.
Do I need a lender or a pre-approval before I talk with Debra?
No. If you don't have a lender yet, that's a normal place to start.
03
The process
Can this site tell me if I qualify for a loan?
No. D'Affordable Homes provides education and general information. It does not approve loans or provide legal, tax, lending, or individualized financial advice. When those questions come up, we point you to the right licensed professional.
What is NACA?
NACA (Neighborhood Assistance Corporation of America) is a nonprofit housing counseling organization. NACA says its free Homebuyer Workshop is open to everyone and is the first step; after it, buyers work through counseling and qualification with NACA before searching for a home. NACA controls every requirement. Our NACA page explains the process and Debra's real-estate role once you are ready to search.
Do you help with the home search?
Yes. Debra helps you define the search, tour homes, write offers and get to closing. What isn't connected yet is a live listings feed on this website, so for now, tell Debra the area, budget and timing and she'll tell you what's available.

Working with Debra
What happens after I book a consultation?
Debra gets back to you to set a time, and then you talk by phone or video call about where you are and what you're trying to work out. No cost, no commitment, and you leave with a clear next step — even if that step is "keep saving and check back in the spring."
Will I be pressured to buy?
No. There are no guaranteed approvals, no fake urgency, and no shame about credit, savings, or renting. The goal is clarity and a plan you can actually follow — on your timeline.
Still have a question?
Ask it. There is no pressure and no obligation.
The questions people worry are too basic are usually the ones worth asking first. Debra would rather hear it now.
